Divorce

Divorce can be hard on kids of all ages, especially kids under the age of 13. This is a quick guide on how to deal with your emotions during your parents fights and how to handle it if and/or when your parents get divorced. The owner of this website recently went through an experience like this, in which their parents divorced. Now, there is a huge difference between “normal divorce” and what people call “high conflict divorce.” This basically means that it wasn’t a calm divorce, like one of my friend’s parents. whenever you think of divorce, you probably think of parents yelling or fighting. Sometimes, though, two parents decide they can’t live together anymore. Usually, one or more of the parents moves out. This can be very difficult for kids, being apart from their longtime home. Sometimes, one parent gets to keep the house, which is what happened in my case. Having “normal” divorce is just like parents talking to each other, going out to dinner, but not living together. My situation was different. My parents fought a lot, and now they don’t speak to each other anymore. I first found out about it on a Wednesday. I was walking home from high school one day, and when I got home, my dad moved out. Now, I still get to see my Dad halftime, and I hope, you, with the help of this guide, can make your life better.
